The genesis of the VRD Summit came from a surge of interest among industry professionals in vacation and short-term rentals. Jessica Duce, an interior designer and visionary behind JDuce Design and co-owner of Vacation Rental Designers, saw the need for a dedicated platform to explore this growing field. "Vacation rental design is cultivating a luxury experience in a residential setting while also anticipating the needs of the guest, owner, property manager, and cleaning crew," Duce explains. "It's a unique design niche, unlike any other."
Duce's conviction that High Point was the perfect host city found an enthusiastic ally in Jane Dagmi, managing director of HPxD. "With our city's rich array of manufacturing brands and resources, we're more than the furniture capital of the world—we're a year-round design destination for our industry," Dagmi affirms.
Ericka Saurit, founder of Saurit Creative, consults with brands across the entire home industry, and emphasizes the value of education for designers. "The more knowledgeable and prepared vacation rental designers are," she explains, "the better they can leverage design as a sales tool for owners."
