Frequently Asked Questions About VRD Membership

Your VRD Questions, Answered

Got questions about joining VRD? We've got answers. Here are the most common questions we hear from designers considering membership.

Q1: Do I have to be a vacation rental designer to join VRD?

Absolutely not. This is the #1 misconception about VRD, so let's clear it up right now.

You don't have to design a single vacation rental to benefit from VRD membership. Our members include residential designers, commercial designers, property stagers, and yes, short-term rental specialists.

What matters is that you want to grow your business, save thousands on projects through our brand partnerships, and be part of a supportive design community.

Here's why ALL designers benefit from VRD: One in five people owns a second home. Whether you're designing residential interiors or commercial spaces, you'll likely encounter clients with vacation properties. VRD gives you the expertise, connections, and confidence to say "yes" when that opportunity shows up.

Even if you never design a vacation rental, you'll still save $15-20K per project through our direct brand partnerships. That alone makes membership worth it.

Q2: How much does VRD membership cost?

Designer Membership: $999/year

Most members recoup this investment on their first project through brand partnership savings alone. We're not exaggerating - with discounts of up to 61% off retail prices from popular, widely-respected brands, the math works in your favor quickly.

Q3: What's included in my VRD membership?

When you join VRD, you get:

✓ Direct brand partnerships with up to 61% off retail (your own accounts, not feeding someone else's)
✓ Expert mentorship from Jessica Duce and rotating industry leaders
✓ Access to 90+ designer members through our community platform
✓ Curated experiences including exclusive High Point Market tours and events, brand trips, and the annual VRD Summit
✓ Business tools and templates for client onboarding, project management, and more
✓ Educational resources with workshops and training

Most events are included in your membership, though some experiences (like the Napa trip with SKS Appliances) have limited capacity and require a separate application.

Q4: How do the brand partnerships actually work?

This is what makes VRD different from traditional buying groups.

With VRD: You open your own direct account with each brand partner. You build your own relationship. You earn your own deeper discounts over time. The brand sees YOUR name on every order, not someone else's.

With traditional buying groups: You feed your orders through one person's account. They get the volume credit, the deeper discounts, and the relationship with the brand. You're invisible.

Our brand partners pay VRD an annual fee to be part of the community; we don't skim off your purchases. That means you get the best possible pricing while building direct relationships that benefit your business long-term.

Q5: Are VRD events included in my membership? Can non-members attend?

Most events are included in your membership, including:

  • High Point Market tours (including Sizzle Sales access)

  • Brand showroom events and Q&As

  • Regional designer meet-and-greets

  • Member-only webinars and educational sessions

The VRD Summit offers member pricing, with tickets also available to non-members at higher rate.

Some experiences like the Napa Valley trip with SKS Appliances have limited capacity and require a separate application process, though they're open exclusively to VRD members.

Non-members can attend the annual VRD Summit but miss out on most other events, which are member-exclusive networking and learning opportunities.

If you can't attend an event, don't worry—many educational sessions and brand Q&As are recorded and available in the VRD member library.

Q6: I'm brand new to the design industry. Is VRD right for me?

VRD works best for designers who have been in the industry for at least 5 years and have active client projects.

Here's why: Our brand partnerships require you to open direct accounts with manufacturers, which typically means meeting minimum purchase requirements or providing proof of business credentials. If you're a student or just starting out without established clients, you may not be able to access these partnerships yet.

That said, if you're a newer designer with active projects and clients, VRD can accelerate your growth significantly. The education, mentorship, and community support are invaluable when you're building your business.

We evaluate membership applications on a case-by-case basis. If you're unsure whether VRD is right for your current business stage, reach out and let's talk.
